From May - early August, you will experience full time employment in Sports Ministry located in the Washington D.C. area. You will be guided to work with High School Athletes and respective Coaches. Your experiences will include everything you need to know about FCA, about working in the "real world" and about making great contacts. Your time will be investing in camps, and campus ministry - you must be an athlete, you must have a desire to connect with others about Christ. You can view the ministry at the local website: www.novafca.org, you can find the national program at www.fca.org. For details, and an application call Joyce at 703-278-3970, when you pray about this ask God for his guidance as this job asks a great deal of you.
Salt Job Description
**THIS CAN ALSO BE HELPFUL IF YOU ARE DOING THIS FOR SCHOOL CREDIT AND THEY WANT A BREAKDOWN OF WHAT SALT IS DOING.
Program Development: Interns will be tasked with power camp roles for developing and coordinating the Power Camp for 8-12 year olds, as well as write curriculum for our coaches corner based on the FCA Competitors Creed (this creed can be found at www.fca.org). There is also the Golf Classic in its 7th year... www.novagolfclassic.org with title sponsor Chick-Fil-A that requires some development work as well.
In addition you will use your public speaking skills as you share what it has meant to you to be a college athlete to various High School students. You will have this opportunity a minimum of 4 times. This will develop business networks as well.
Office Management: Interns will learn about basic everyday tools / time management to run an office. Utilizing a database, searching queries for various events and generating lists for sport specific events, or age specific audiences. You will assist in mailings and processing of camp applications.
Field Work: Interns will go with Area Reps to High School and Middle School Huddles to learn how a huddle is run, and also encourage the students in their faith and area of sport interest.
Camp Work: Interns will participate in at least 3 camps either as a huddle leader (camp counselor) or a coach. Interns will learn the camp model that FCA uses throughout the nation.
Development / Fundraising: Interns will meet with area donors and community businesses and learn why they have chosen to partner with fca, with their time talent and/or treasures (finances). They will also participate in development by sending out letters to potential donors of the SALT program.
This list I'm sure looks like a lot, it is not meant to be overwhelming. The idea is for interns to get a flavor of each area of FCA. You will work hard, but we will also do everything in our power to set you up for a successful and rewarding summer.
