As a 15 year old Steve was introduced to faith in Jesus Christ by a man on a pickup basketball court. He went from having little hope in life, to having hope, faith, and realizing his purpose. He’s a NOVA native, he graduated from Hayfield Secondary in 1993….Go Hawks! He regrets not having played for any Hayfield teams. He started college at NVCC Annandale, and transferred to Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Tx. There he performed in a drama ministry (where he met his future wife Heather, also an all-American cheerleader) and played 1 year of basketball. It was a humbling yet thrilling experience as a 6’4” senior on the JV team, where he sometimes guarded 6’10” JuCo players. He also masqueraded as HSU’s unofficial mascot. Steve was fully involved in intramural sports, the school paper, and new student orientation. After earning a degree in Psychology & Communication, Steve worked in youth ministry, substitute school teaching, and coached 1 year at HSU. He also entered several rap contests, winning one & being featured in a Sprite commercial. In 2003 he married Heather and they moved to NoVA, where he continued youth ministry. She is a 5th grade teacher at Hybla Valley Elementary, has a missionary’s heart, and makes Steve very proud as she lives out her faith in a public school. In 2006 he began work with FCA, and also coordinating adult sports teams for Foxchase of Alexandria, as well as commissioning NoVAFFL, a men’s flag football league. He is not wasting his athletic ability anymore, and currently plays soccer, volleyball, football, basketball, and enjoys mountain biking, paintball, snowboarding, fishing & hunting. His elementary aged son Micah and toddler Caleb both make him very proud, and tired. One of Steve’s biggest desires is to see people think critically about God’s existence, the life of Christ, and for them to see the amazing parts of life’s everyday occurrences. Steve loves being a husband and father. He & Heather have been married for over 10 years, and have two sons, Micah & Caleb, and a daughter, India.
